- Master of Social Work and Master of Health Administration from Florida Atlantic University
While completing my Master in Social Work, I spent time with community providers and worked extensively with children and families in the child welfare system. These families were affected by substance use and trauma, which often resulted in children being removed from the home and separation of families. I have worked in community mental health and treatment centers as an assessment clinician, primary therapist, lead therapist, director and supervisor, and facilitated intensive outpatient (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Placement (PHP) groups. I have treated persons with severe and persistent mental illness and children with developmental disabilities, advocating from the community as well as in their homes. I have counseled on grief and loss, women’s issues, co-occurring disorders, managing anger and anxiety, substance use disorder, depression and learning healthy coping skills.
I believe in a holistic approach, which includes empathy to comprehend what is going on in another person’s mind and a commitment to journey with clients she serves to be the best that they can be. I counsel and coach from treatment modalities of Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Modality, Motivational Enhancement Therapy, Psycho-education and Motivational Interviewing, depending on individual client needs. I assist clients and families with crisis intervention, recovery planning, and support services.
